The Albert Centre has produced various leaflets specific to areas of concern & interest including:

  • women and alcohol

  • alcohol and the human body

  • harm reduction and

  • risk reduction in relation to alcohol and drug using practices.

  • The aim of the Albert Centre Hartlepool is to set out a package of support and treatment to help address whatever your individual needs are; with the overall aim of enabling you to overcome your alcohol problem.

Who’s in the team?

  • Alcohol Coordination Workers

  • Counsellors

  • Outreach Workers

  • Aftercare and Education Workers

Initial assessment

A member of the team will carry out a comprehensive assessment with you at The Albert Centre.  This can take 1 to 1½ hours and you are welcome to bring a friend or family member along for support if you wish. We may, in certain circumstances, be able to offer a home   assessment if you aren’t able to access the Albert Centre building.

After your assessment you will be allocated a named Alcohol Coordination Worker who will:

  • Be your main contact in the team and offer one to one support.

  • Work with you on your care plan.

  • Liaise with other people on your behalf.

  • Be responsible for ensuring your care plan is being implemented.

What is a Care plan?

Based on your initial assessment your named Alcohol Coordination Worker will work with you to draw up a care-plan based on your individual needs.  Together you will decide what support may be required to help you overcome your alcohol problem.

Counselling

Counselling is a specific one to one intervention conducted over a number of weeks by a qualified Counsellor who will work with you to explore any difficulties you may be having, or any underlying issues that may be contributing to your alcohol use.

Groups

The team run a number of different groups appropriate to a range of needs.  Although the groups are small, we understand that people can be worried about attending, especially for the first time. However, groups are proven to be an   effective way of helping people affect change and provide support. Ask your named worker for more information.
